Olympian Scott Shipley’s S2o Design team expands to meet growing demand

05.19.2011– Leading whitewater park design firm S2O Design and Engineering has increased its staff and launched a new website to better serve burgeoning demand for whitewater parks around the globe.

New to the S2O team are Nick Turner, Christine Clark and Michael Williams. Turner brings extensive in-stream experience to the team from his tenure with both the McLaughlin Whitewater Design Group and RiverRestoration. Clark’s experience lies in master planning (MURB), architecture (Barch), landscape architecture (MLa) and recreational design while Williams specializes in building design, space planning, interior design, and project management. “this team vastly expands our capabilities. I am especially excited about the experience and know-how that Nick brings to adjustable features for natural rivers”.

The trio join S2O founder, Scott Shipley, a Colorado-Based engineer whose whitewater pedigree includes three Olympiads and four world titles. A lifetime spent on whitewater, combined with award-winning engineering design work has led to Shipley’s reputation as the go-to designer for some of the world’s most demanding whitewater design projects.

“The S2O team offers the best blend of authenticity in the whitewater community and will help build on S2O’s reputation for innovative engineering solutions to create enduring whitewater parks,” Shipley said.

The team is scheduled to begin work soon on an in-stream project in Queenstown, New Zealand’s adventure capital and was recently selected to design Missoula’s Max Wave Project. Shipley recently finished work on the London 2012 Olympics canoe slalom venue.

Profiles of staff and projects can be found on the company’s new web site, S2oDesign.net.

“Our new web site does a great job of communicating through words, images and video how S2O differs from the competition,” Shipley said. “Demand for whitewater parks continues to grow so we feel it’s important to communicate how we approach projects and the patented tools we have at the ready to ensure the resulting whitewater park is a community asset for decades to come.”

Founded in 2007 by Scott Shipley, S2O Design prides itself on innovative and holistic approaches to whitewater park design that ensures clients get a park that meets all their economic, environmental and recreational objectives. Committed to reinventing whitewater, S2O is the only design-build firm that has developed patented solutions that make whitewater parks easier and more profitable to operate as well as more enjoyable for whitewater enthusiasts of all skill levels
